Very nice find. Especially for the PR 5/6 domains! Regardless of the name, they can become directories :D

Where did you find this list btw?

but wait... the fact they you may be able to grab the domain name does not give you the site pages which once you have the domain will be changed and the ranking will likely disappear very fast. Any backlinks will also evaporate quickly. So what do you really get that will last?

what am I missing here that would make me want to buy just a domain name without a site that acheived the PR?

just a question, not a critque.

    best regards

Buddy i understand what you trying to say, but look around lots of people registering expired domain, if you ask me why, i dont know!!

But its true, if you register a domain, you wont get any pages or rankin, but i believe you get the PR. and some ppl really care about it:)

sorry im not an domain expert, but im sure some ppl will answer your question.

Obviously, search for expired domains with PR is a waste of time and eventually waste of money because Google adjust the pagerank to reflect their expired/dropped condition = 0

In the past I lost both money and time registering some of those.

If the domain got high quality backlinks, it is worth to buy.

Dmoz listed is useless, the dmoz editor would delete the sites switched to another kind.

Anyway, thanks for listing these domains :)

It's true that Google resets PR once the domain expires. But if you put up similar content to the old site on the domain, the PR will recover after a month or two.

I recently reg'd an expired domain with a PR6, and within 2 months it was back to PR5.

pool.com are good. But it all depends who the registrar is. Snapnames are becoming more and more effective, especially with their deal with Network Solutions.

I believe that the whole trend of backordering and making deals between companies it totally unfair to the average user, but ICANN will do nothing about it.

Network Solutions have become very arrogent and have started abusing thier position with regards to expiring domain names. Quite recently i was dealing with them regarding veno.com. I was in talk with the company that owned it to purchase the domain name and during that period it expired. but had not cleared the grace period. However NS took it upon themselves to immediately register the domain in thier name without any grace period offered. They knew it would be a nice money earning domain name for them to resell. However ICANN rules state that the grace period is not mandatory.

    blah blah blah.......

needless to say the domain sold on Snapnames for $3,200 3 days later

iamsgf, yes you are right about it. i'm not that experienced with this kinda issue, caz i never register domain with pool.com or snapnames. but what i heard from my friends snapnames becoming more popular and they are catching more domain than other company.
but im worry about once you get the domain name by backdoor, you are not getting it right away, caz if 2 or more ppl backdoor same domain you have to bid it then win it. sometime i wonder if you are bidding with real people or computer. i really dont believe them. thatswhy i dont backdoor domain.

however some of my friends had great sucess with pool.com thatswhy i recommand this for backdoor.

Well Snapnames have a very open and transarent process, but it is like any auction, you dont know if the other people are actually real or not.

But Pool.com process is alot more dark and shady.....
