What is your experience with buying expired domains with PR? How easy is it to retain the PR?

    Wasnt too hard.

Bought a PR7 and it dropped to a PR6. But amazingly enough inner pages which were only a month old before the last update recieved PR. Not sure how that worked but it did.

Some people get really unlucky though and they drop all the way to 0.

As I understood it I thought they wiped the PR once the whois info changed?

If there are no links after whois change, next PR update give you low (or 0). If you see PR check for backlink before buy the domain.

I would advice to check out the backlinks before any purchase. Not all expired PR domain sales are bad :)

Yep! I agree with KC. I know someone who has recently purchased some PR domains and got a good return just after a week.

May be the best time to buy expired PR domains would be immediately after a PR update. That way, you get maximum time to build new links while capitalising on the existing PR.

Had a good experience with buying one. With a few more links before the next update, the PR went up from 4 to 5. And new site content was nowhere even related to original site content. Has fine rankings too.

Interesting results. Thanks for all comments. I bought one ~1 month ago and will see the result in the next update. Keeping search engines to the site was difficult but i guess i managed to do that now.

Try adding original content too. That may help.

usually the pr goes back to 0 if you wont do any seo with that domain.

helps if your new site has similiar content. Keeps lazy web admins from removing the link.

I think it's not enough to just go and buy a high PR.
You need to take care of it, by building backlinks and adding original content.

how are you guys going about registering an expired domain??? which service do you use/registrar.

I got a list of expried domain but when trying to register it constantly tells me its either taken or in redemption even though its supposedly not.
