Smyrl, I think the point is someone is selling those domains, or trying to...

 

While the names themselves may leave a bit to be desired, the "art" of acquiring existing ranked domains can be quite good fortune. Even if you don't choose to develop the site, and just forward it to an existing site to take advantage of the visitor base. A quick search of a few different web research based sites (I would post links for them, but cannot as I need 8 more posts ) will give you an idea as to the content the site had, as well as the visitor base that frequented the domain name. There are actually several different ways to monetize domain names like these. Don't just think of the aesthetics of the name itself.

 

Nobody is selling the domains, the owner either quit paying for them, or forgot to renew them, so the have expired. The have run through their deletion cycle, and will be available to register (to the public at any registrar) sometime on the day I have listed next to them.

So what is the situation with registering these domains.. will the previous owners dispute?

 

There is no dispute left, when a domain name expires it first goes into a 1-45 day "On-Hold" status (this is a grace period for the 'owner' to pay to register it again. It then goes into a 30 day RPG status. (Redemption Grace Period) the 'owner' can still buy it back during this time as well. Then it goes into a 5 day deleted status, the next day they are available to the public. The domains I am listing are on day 4, of the 5 day deleted status. This means tomorrow they are all fair game. But the good ones go quickly as the expired domain name market is quite large.

 

at what time on the 25 do they become available.

 

ICANN does not do this at a set time, the names will recirculate throughout the entire day.

Yes, where are all of you finding these domain names that are about to expire?

Also, remember that PR doesn't matter if the domain expires. You must buy the domain from the previous owner if you wish to renew it and keep the PR.

I'm sure if it has a ton of links, the PR will somewhat return to where it was, but who wants to go through the sandbox when they don't have to?

Also, in my original post, I was being sarcastic. I'm not sure if ironic would be a proper description.

Let me know if you hear of any PR6, 7, 8, 9 and expecially 10 sites expiring

 

Not specifically from the ones above, but I do register about 4-6 per week from the lists yes. Mostly have to backorder any of the good ones you want to have a decent shot at getting them.
