How can one take advantage of the hard work and effort that another person has done? The answer is easy: expired domain names. Generally, expired domain names happen when a domain name is registered; and then the owner builds a website for it; and then the website is extensively promoted, which leads to a lot of visitors; and then the owner of the domain fails to renew its registration, causing the domain to expire. After the expiration of the domain name, there would still be visitors who would be going to the website only to find out that the website no longer exists. Instead of these visitors and this traffic just going to waste, you could just direct them to your website. As you may already know, building a website requires a lot of work, effort and time. And generating traffic going to it requires even a lot more. However, with the help of expired domains, you could get a good head start with all the visitors it could bring. Looking for an expired domain name that has an established number of regular visitors could be a bit tricky and beating anyone else to register them could even be trickier. There are lots of websites, which specialize in getting these expired domains for you. There are even websites which provide a list of those domains which would be expiring soon. You could browse through these lists and assess which ones would be most relevant to your own topic. The important thing when choosing which expired domain name to get is to know how many backlinks it has - meaning how many websites contain a link going to that domain. Generally, the more backlinks a domain has, the more visitors that particular domain would have - and that is exactly what you need. we need to make sure that we get an expired domain in the same niche. if we get a domain related to automotive and then build a health related site on it, then those backlinks will not be relevant backlinks anymore. besides, lot of times expired domains end up losing their backlinks and PR within one or 2 updates.
It will give some advantage of course. Now when you have a new site on that domain you gonna have to make sure you have the pages that got incoming links, otherwise the advantage would diminish. Once search engines see a no-page-exists soon it would start deindexing those pages.
