    Hi,

    I need your help.
There is this domain that I want to get, but its taken. The domain has already expired but I can't register it...

How long is the redemption period?
I'v also looked at this thread:
    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=795531&highlight=domain+redemption

The domain I want is registered with JOKER.COM. I went to Joker.com and went to "renew domain" but it said the domain was not registered with them...

This is what the WHOIS says:

    Status: redemptionPeriod
    Updated Date: 04-apr-2008
    Creation Date: 04-mar-2004
    Expiration Date: 04-mar-2008

Last update of whois database: Fri, 18 Apr 2008 22:26:51 UTC

According to a post I read in this forum, someone said I would have to wait 30 days after the "last whois update" when it switches to "pending delete" .... but i checked 3 days in a row and it get updated everyday??

    a) How can I get this domain?
    b) How long will I have to wait to register this domain
    c) Is it worth it to purchase goDaddy's Backorder service

    Thanks in advance!

Your catching domain might has some values becuase it has been registered since 2004. You should backorder if you really want to get it. I prefer snap or pool.

Sounds like an auction company has it. Try JustDropped.com and SnapNames.com

    Hi, how does snapnames.com work?

Here is what the search resulted:

    img169.imageshack.us/my.php?image=imagejv6.jpg

Now, it says "Minimum Bid: 59.99" > I'm I buying the domain for this amount, or is this Snapnames.com "Backorder Service Charge"

    ------------------------

I also used: expiresoft(.)com and it said the following

    "website.com On Hold Mar 26, 2007"

    What does "On Hold" Mean?

    ----------------------------------

    Using: unregisteredlookup(.)com

It says the domain I want was "Refunded On March 7, 2008"

    What does this mean?

thanks everyone. i ended up getting the domain through godaddy's backorder service.. it worked after all; but fall short from promoting it; because it was a weird experience; and maybe someone can explain this...

so when the pendingdelete ended, godaddy tried to capture the domain the day it was released to the public (exactly 5 days after it said "pendingDelete") it tried twice, and then i got an email saying "capture failed". and then got an email showing me the WHOIS has been changed and that some1 in fact had registered it.

i was disappointed. i saw it got registered with snapnames.com so i emailed the email address on the WHOIS contact info (XXX@snapnames.com) and asked if they could contact the domain owner and tell them i wanted to buy the domain .... the response from snapnames.com was that the domain was up for auction on their website. apparently the domain name was bought just to be put up for auction...

but 4 days later i got another email from godaddy saying the registar changed to godaddy.com; i was confused on what the domain owner was doing. a few days later i get email from godaddy telling me "capture successful"..

i was confused, nonetheless i was very happy!!

well that was my experience and if anybody could explain what happened here better please do.

it didn't have a pR or any traffic, just a good 2 word domain that could help me against my established competitors.

Its very common for a bulk domain holder to register a domain for up to 72 hours before throwing it back into the pool.
