Hi all, i have been running a diretory for about 6 months just to play around adn get on the learning curve. Well not surprisingly I discovered recently that all most of the directory has gonna supplemental. Not a surprise looking at the COMPLETE LACK of inbounds into the deeper pages of the directory. So I have decided to do a little experiment. Here is a post on the supplemental directory experiment. Basically all I have done is drive one single link into the top tier of the category pages. Will it be enough to get most pages out of the sups index? I will happily report in the coming weeks as this develops.
Each way can be succesfull, each can bring no result. I'd prefer to do some nice URLs rewrites instead of having thousand of 'index.php?search=' or 'detail-id' ...
Yes, basically you need to submit some of your categories to a "trusted" sites or directories or a site that is index and crawled frequently by the SE's. Example: http://mydir.com/internet/ and do as much as you can. This could be very expensive if your lacking resources, but a good place to submit them affordability is a link bidding site, generally most of them are $1 as most of them haven't yet yet figure it out on how to increase their prices..namely yours
actually mine is 1$ a month. the test is about seeing how many new links are required to get a page out of the supplemetal index.
If you want deep links I have a deep link directory just bypass the Paypal and I'll hook it up for free, just PM me the URL when you submit. Make sure it's a unique description so I don't wind up in supplemental hell either. I think the key isn't only deep links and rewrites but unique content. A few articles/etc.
