The idea was buzzing around in my head for sometime. I will host three subdomains on one of my website targetting the same keywords. There are two primary keywords and some secondary keywords. The first primary keywords has 2,060,000 results in google, and the second has 1,580,000. For the first subdomain I will optimize the on page content and site structure and use only related reciprocal links. For the second one I will optimize the on page content and site structure, and use article submissions, directory submissions and social bookmark links. For the third one I will not optimize the onpage content and site structure and will use reciprocal links, article submissions, directory submissions and social bookmark links. Each site will have only 4 pages of content to start with. I will start the experiment on the 3rd of February and post the progress every week here in DP.
I can kind of guess what would happen, but then never have done for the sake of experiment. So, let me summarize your experiments again. #1 On-page SEO + relevant reciprocal link exchange #2 On-page SEO + one way links #3 Only off-page SEO Am I correct?
Wow this takes you a lot time and effort. Based on my experience, #2 will be the winner. But if you get qualified links for #1, it will be winner. Are you focusing on google only, or yahoo and msn together? Maybe the results for the 3 major SEs will be different.
The experiment got delayed. Had to complete some urent tasks before hand. Will begin on Monday, hopefully.
