Experienced webmaster - what kind of site/online business to invest in now?

Although Ive been making profitable websites for a while, I have never made big money, maybe ive just been unlucky, but at the moment I need to know whether pay per click is still the way to go, or private advertisers, or affiliates (paid commision per sale). There is also the possibility or dropshipping.
This is a very broad question, so really any help is appreciated.

I'm not sure, but I'm guessing it would depend on what niche you're in.

I've got a CPA site in the works, and a site with a little bit of everything in the works. I have big hopes for one of these and the other one should do quite well if I can do it right.

Then a blog which is just CPM and CPC which earns next to nothing - it's just for fun anyway.

The smartest people in the wrong trend can make no money, while the less intelligent folks can be in the right trend and become extremely successful.

Find the right trend is so key. For example, if you follow the S-Curve in business, finding a trend that is at the 10% of market penetration is key. Online Advertising is the new way of advertising and has almost reached 10% and it took about 9 years. This means that 90% of marketing/advertising will be using digital/online methods in about 9 years from now.

It totally depend on your niche.
For example,if you involve in gambling niche, then you should use affiliate product coz it can earn you better than PPC or anything else.

Depending on what you want to do, depends on how long and how expensive it is to take off.

Forums are the most expensive, then service companies, then blogs, and then information/affiliate sites.

Exactly, at the same time be patient in whatever method you chose.

You may find the perfect way to generate revenue but it may take some time for you to realize it. So don't bunk out on it right at the beginning; you may regret it later on.

Give each method 2-3 months time to prove itself. And do try out all the methods before settling in on one of them. Compare statistics and make a ratio ~ how much traffic you had 3 months back and how much you made using the previous method : how much traffic you get now and how much you would make in 3 months from now.

Patience is the key here :)

Well first things first, what are you good at? If you are good at writing then I would suggest getting into the business of running a blog and reviewing products for companies. Ask them to send you a product to review. Start to get a following of people coming to your website looking to find out your opinions of products.

Eventually companies will start giving you free items all the time to review, increasing your following further. Then you can start to ask for sponsorship etc.

Most websites need to have user interaction etc so get a forum going so that users will engage more and keep coming back. The more people that visit your site the more you can earn.
