Hot Looks for Back-to-School 2009: A Shout-Out to the New Vintage

A new school year has started, and with it come entirely new fashions for the fall season. This year appears to be all about the new retro, as well as mixing and matching of all kinds coming into vogue. And as well, the definition of what is cool in shoes and accessories has changed once again, along with the hot new colors of the seasons. But no worries! All will be detailed just in time for the start of the Back-to-School season.
It is 2009 and with the year 2010 just around the corner early eighties fashion has just become vintage, and this is more than evident in what have become the fashion trends for returning students. Neon colors in accessories, as well as clothes, rock tee shirts of bands both modern and retro, and the various reference to the classic punk look will all be present in one way or another at the sales this years. And in a true salute to eighties fashion, something that is going to become a corner piece in every girl’s closet will be the short dress with leggings. On boys, we can expect to see plaid shirts and layering of all kinds.
Colors this year will play as much a part in purchasing as the actual fashion pieces themselves. From metallic, to black and white, to deep fall colors, mixing and matching has become more than just a reflection of the current recession or a look that says the laundry didn’t get done last night. This fall, layering on both boys and girls can be expected to become a big trend; combining everything from plaids to leathers to tweeds, and every color imaginable.
And certain shoe styles are, of course, going to be a staple of any Back-to-School wardrobe. For both boys and girls, Converse sneakers and high-tops can be expected to be the same definition of ‘in’ as they were in the early eighties. Today, however, young shoppers will have the luxury of having dozens of different patterns and styles to choose from; ones that will be able to blend with whatever style buyers may wish to call their own: from preppy, to Boho, to trendy, to even Goth. Girls, though, can still expect fashion flats to remain a hot trend for shoes which come in just as many colors and styles as Converse, but add that extra feminine touch to any outfit.
In short, these pieces can be expected to be seen in numerous combinations in the fall season whether the wearers be rushing to catch the bus or trading gossip in the coffee shops. And with such an emphasis being placed on the vintage look, there may very well be a few teens who are lucky enough to have a few packed-away boxes containing real eighties fashion, and a few lucky parents who will not have to shell out quite so much for the new Back-to-School fashions.
