A few weeks ago I received 1000+ diggs on my new blog and my host blocked my site's IP until the traffic died down, resulting in no money from the nicely placed google ad, and a lot of dissatisfied visitors. I switched from my old host (Site5) to MediaTemple the other day and I'm just getting everything ready and hoping that the next digg doesn't screw me over again. Has anyone here survived Digg using MT before? Also, does WPCache really help? Sorry if this is the wrong section, but there wasn't a hosting section, although this might fit into the blogging section..
I've never had it hit one of my websites to the point that it would take my server down. I know a site I recently purchased had that happen a few times. . . Every time a certain number of visitors would be logged in it'd automatically lock everyone else out :/ My server is stronger than his though, I hope to see that digg effect soon..
It depends on the script. One of my scripts has managed to cope with being dugg over and over again no problem. I even got dugg, metafiltered and farked at the same time 1s and everything went smoothly. The other website on the same server (Much more sql heavy script) however died half way through through the day. PS: Digg does not really bring you any clicks. Infact i usually end up losing money because of the server slowing down etc.
