Experience doing affiliate marketing on AdWords content network only?

Anybody have any good resources for doing this? I don't want to go the landing page route, I want to bring the visitor directly to the offers landing page. I know Zac Johnson does most of his affiliate marketing this way.

I've had some experience using AdWords search network for personal use, but the content network seems to be a bit more limiting.

Any pointers in the right direction would be much appreciated.

On some products the content network has worked well for me. Of course the CTR is really low, but I've had the traffic convert. It seems to depend on the type of product you are promoting.

You can get more value out of sending your traffic to a landing page. It's always smart to have an opt-in email form on your landing page. Just because the visitor may not buy the product, it's valuable to get their email address if they will give it to you. You can use that to promote on going which can bring in more income.

Yep, I tend to agree, opt-in on these type of traffic sources is a must, if you want to balance out the high clicks and relativelly low quality of the visitors.

Well I wouldnt say content traffic = lower quality... it all depends on alot of factors.

If you're into Content Traffic, do read up more on Site Targeting, and how to make it work for you. If done right, you can get EXTREMELY cheap clicks, as Site Targeting works on a CPM basis. If you pay $2 per 1000 impressions and get a CTR of 5%, thats 50clicks for $2, or $0.04 per click.

Of cos, you have to target your sites that you target, so that they're targeted. (yeah, makes sense eh!)

I have a couple of hundred clicks a day on the content network, that converts over 30% on a few offers I'm promoting. So I dont agree that content traffic is off lesser quality :)

And hey you get past Google's single URL serving rule. Which rules! (pun intended)

I only bid $0.01 on the content network...a while ago I started getting hundreds of penny clicks...most of them coming from myspace...then I made a mistake...I should not have touched the campaign...but I did...I changed an ad...clicks stopped coming.

Yeah when that happens, they do a manual review. So if you really do change your adcopy, make sure you have 2 Ad copies, and only change 1 at a time, to make sure traffic doesnt stop coming!

    Applies to the big 3s.
