Hi I am just seeking some advice on the best practice on radically changing the way I market (SEO) my site. I have been targeting the top spots on a very local search and have succeed in reaching my target but I now what to increase my geographical presence without hurting my top positions. DO i create location pages keeping the content as is and then create new page for the wider area with new content? however keeping the original URL i.e http://www.cocoonfxmedia.co.uk/design.html - my local target http://www.cocoonfxmedia.co.uk/web-design.html - new targets Look forward to hearing your thoughts?
There is no issue in doing it like you have suggested in your OP- you won't run into any issues. If you try to rank a single page for multiple keywords (I mean 5+, not 2!) then you might run into issues- but you won't have to worry judging from your OP. WebDev
I agree with the comments above, but will add the following. Depending upon the level of difficult you may want child pages for high volume locales and a parent page for the likely higher volume more general terms. This is an appropriate way to target multiple phrases. There is absolutely nothing wrong with only one page, but it certain instances a parent + child page make sense. e.g. in Australia a site may want a parent page for SEO and child pages for popular cities such as Sydney, Melbourne, etc...
