Expand coverage US to Canada without affecting current ranking

Hi guys, I have a unique question that I hope you fine folks on the sub can take a stab at.

I have a .US website domain that had been live over the past 3 years. Fully functional website with blog and content. All my branding on videos, assets, images have been baked in.

Just this year, I relocated to Canada and registered a .CA domain as well.

My primary .US domain is connected to Squarespace, so is my secondary .CA domain (310 redirect) Which means a visitor can enter either domain extensions and that would lead them to my website either way.

For purpose of illustration, I’m going to use photography as an example for my business. I want to continue to rank in the US for photo products (e.g. presets, e-books, merchandise) but I’ve also opened a photo studio in Canada providing photo services (e.g. studio headshots, wedding photography).

Obviously I want to retain my current ranking in the US on the .US website for merchandise. But I also want to be available on google search + google business for photo services in Canada.

Would you stick to a current .US domain and continue redirecting .CA to the main site?

If I switch to .CA as main account and have .US redirecting in, would that mess up my SEO & ranking?

    Hope this all makes sense.
