    Wazaaaaaaaaa!

So I was watching this old Frank Kern interview from like '07 or something and I didn't know this but apparently you can somehow use exit pop-ups on offer pages that you are linking to???

He mentions he was doing this with direct linking campaign in yahoo and using a service called traffic regenerator.

What is the deal with exit pops?

    What is/are the best one(s)?

And can you use them on offer pages that you are promoting?

Thanks. I'm new, but committed and love the community here.

    Late...

Bren, using exit pop ups is kind of on the way out. They were good for their time, but they may do more harm to your business than good these days. Potential customers are smarter and more web savvy now and may think you're not trustworthy using such tactics to retain them. You don't want someone to be on your email list if you shove the offer down their throat because odds are they won't be paying. I will take a happy customer that uses his own free will to sign up for my products & services over a frustrated customer taken by force any day. It frustrates people when they think someone has built a "trap" and won't let them go freely from a site. That's my ethics & opinion though.

Hmmm haven't seen what you watched, but I don't know about pop-ups these days. Almost everyone has a pop-up blocker on their computer so I don't know if they're very effective anymore. However, you can sign up with an autoresponder service (like Aweber) that gives up a piece of javascript code to put in your webpages that ACTS like an exit pop-up (but it's not). Hope this helped a bit.

I am wondering what sort of person would fall for the exit popups.

You are on your way out and then the popup appears and you think, hold on I better sing up then.

What they actually do is use pop-unders. As soon as a viewer views the page the pop-under is displayed under internet explorer and on the desktop. This way when a user closes the browser, the ad will still be displayed.

I like pop unders, but I hate pop ups. One is helpful, the other is annoying. The one thing to do is make sure that you advertise to a target market.
