Etiquette of a contest winner: as this is my 1st contest I wanted to ask about etiquette of announcing results etc. What if you like a particular design and you decide that to be the winner but you would like to change one aspect of their design? Once you have announced the winner is it ok to ask for a small adjustment like a font change? Or do you just need to keep giving feedback and make sure the designer gets it right on here first? As a quick example, nearly everyone has missed the d on leveraged and instead have used leverage, that would be one small change but I figured I didn't want to keep asking people to get it perfect when I could see what they were trying to achieve minus one letter missing.
Bugger: My sincere apologies. [feeling embarassed now!!!] It is actually dimitri123 that I like. Dimitri123: Excellent design - see post about ploomer's. Ploomer: I do apologise. I do like your globe more than anyone else's apart from Lizzy's. The 2 of you have very similar (but different) globe's. I thought the 4 currency pairs made the logo itself too big and so I didn't find it as catchy as some of the others.
Joko: Very nice. Can I ask that the 'swoosh' starts at the bottom left and then heads up, moves down and then rallies back up to the upper right hand corner? If you can imagine a fast moving stock price that does exactly that, that is the effect that I am after. Think of it like a share prices graph moving from low left to upper right with a dip in the middle. Many stock market traders would really relate to that and it would capture a fun scene. Can I say your writing is the best. Its really clear and you have positioned all the text really well and just how we like it. Thanks Ploomer: Still not quite the effect that we are after with the currencies on the outside. I can't put my finger on exactly what it is but something just doesn't work with the currencies in that fashion. Thanks again.
Dimitri123: We like what you have done very much so. Are you able to make a couple of modifications to your design? * Make the land and water more distringuished in color so it doesn't just look like a blue ball? * Change the Learn and .com to be the same color and have 1 version black and 1 version a deep blue? * Everything else is spot on. The font used it great. Love it.
Dimitri: There is a lot to like about your design. Our goal is to have a logo that represents a thought in someones mind immediately and the 4 currency pairs circling the globe is by far the stand out and the image we are after. I like the text in that fashion too. Joko: Your 1st line was actually much better. It must be hard to do, but I was thinking almost exactly what you had on your previous design but moving from bottom left to top right. The 2nd effort looked almost jagged if you know what i mean. Having a smooth swooshing type line fits better I believe. Top efforts...very exciting. Thanks
The final results What an exciting contest. Whilst this is only my 1st one I was truly blown away by the standard and competitiveness of all entries. You are all great thinkers and I wish you well with your future designing. 1st place: $30 - Dimitri123. Payment has been sent via paypal already. Dimitri won as a result of creating a unique logo that captured the essence of what LearnCFDs.com is about in a fresh and inviting style. We felt it was modern and reflected everything we were after. 2nd place: $10 - Jokomamamita. Please send paypal details. NOTE: We are away for the next 2 days so payment can be made after we get back. Joko's design actually had the most interest from the friends we sent it to as a result of having nice, clear and easy to read font with a pretty cool logo design. Well done. 3rd place: $5 - Lizzy4. Please send paypal details. NOTE: We are away for the next 2 days so payment can be made after we get back. Lizzy was relentless with new and inspiring designs and the tally of votes from friends came back as your blue globe on its own being the next best. Special Mentions: I know it can be disappointing to not finish in the money but I have to make mention of the fantastic effort of Pixobox who got pipped at the post from the polled results from friends. As it turned out your red logo design turned out to be much clearer and easier to read that when it got changed to blue. The font ended up being not as readible as some of the others. Joidiamonds: You were leading the charge early in the piece and came up with some inspiring, well thought out designs. You did everything you could to get gold bars, halo effects and currencies all dancing to a pretty cool theme. Tristans: I can't recall if you actually posted on the main forum but the PM you sent through was great and included everything we asked for. Beautiful, clear and well designed logo. Thanks everyone for all your efforts. Your commitment and enthusiasm throughout it all has been inspiring to watch and be a part of. Keep up the great work and I look forward to working with Dimitri and if it happens many others. Have a great holiday period and best wishes for 2009.
Congrats again to the winners. I have now made payment to the 2nd and 3rd place getters and 1st place was paid on the day the contest winner was announced. I had fun conducting the contest and look forward to running others down the track. I have to say I am going to have more fun putting into place the new logo. Brilliant designs from all. Hope you all hae a great New Year but most importantly a safe one.
