i'm fairly new to content building, so please bear with me.

i'm thinking about approaching some web sites and asking them if they'd be interested in advertising on my site in exchange for the rights for me to reproduce their content on my site.

what are your thoughts about this idea? all comments, questions and concerns are welcomed.

    thanks in advance!

hmm... i don't know really but i don't think that would be very successful. I'm guessing you don't have a lot of traffic so advertising on your site won't be particularly appealing to anyone other than other small sites. they possibly don't have any "good" content anyway.

also, you definitely don't want to have duplicated content on your site because it will damage your google search results and pagerank.

i know it is hard, but try to come up with some good quality unique content (either your own work or outsourced) and then you'll be able to attract traffic and paying advertisers.

I think that you'll get advertisers to take an interest in your site if you have got an acceptable Page Rank and likewise receive considerable amount of traffic regularly. I'm not so sure if reproducing already published web content on your site with do well with the search engines. I would advice for you to actively build links for your site in the meantime by using different strategies to increase the value of your site.

So you get the money from the ads, and you get the content for your site? People aren't essentially going to pay you to put their articles on your site. If you want content, you should be paying them.

It could work the other way. You will give them original content and they will give you free advertising on their site.

If all you want is to copy some content, go to ezinearticles and reproduce some articles.

yep, that's the way to go, just copy the articles from some article directories and make sure to keep the footer links [author bio] at the end of the article "as is" the author bio is the ads that you are exchanging for the permission to use the article. but don't be too happy about it, as all those content is already published plenty of time, so its duplicate content!

exchange content for ads works, if the ads are do-follow links, but it will hurt your search engine rankings in the long run...

no, i don't wouldn't get any money from them. they'd give me permission to reproduce their content and i'd place their ad on my site.

OK. Sorry for misunderstanding what you were trying to say. In that case it's going to depend on the value an ad on your site has to them and how much value they place on their content (and whether there's a reasonable balance there).

I think a lot of websites won't be too keen on republishing their content on your site, even if it has considerable traffic. They can allow you to paraphrase and/or link to their article but not copy it word for word.

Again, that's just my opinion. Try contacting your prospective websites and tell us what happens. :) Good luck!
