I have a .com domain which has excellt rankings for so many keywords in Google.com but hardly any of them are available in google.co.uk. Can you advise what I need to look out for and how I can possibly rectify this problem? I anm getting a lot of business from the US but my business is based in UK so woudl like sufficient traffic from UK too.
You should use Google Webmaster Tools to set a Geographic Target for your domain name - i.e. if you set it to UK then Google will know your target market is the UK. Also, it would help if you host your website on a UK server.
Yeah, I'm agree with this answerer, You just setup the Geographic Target for your domain on Google Webmaster tools. this tool is Useful.. I've tried this tools. Tip : Using Local Server is the best Choice.. Good Luck... !!
Some good valid advice here. To summarise: 1) Set geographic target in Webmaster Tools (I haven't seen this have any real impact, but it's worth doing) 2) Host the site in the UK 3) Most Important - Get the majority of your backlinks from UK sites. .co.uk are easy to spot, but I also use the Flagfox plugin for Firefox which shows where the site is hosted. (Useful for finding links from other .com sites hosted in the UK. 4) Use supporting keywords like 'UK' along with your main keywords
the most important is get as more as possible related back links, and the back links should come from uk web host.
Thanks heaps for all your responses and all of them make sense. Can some one elaborate on point 1 above to state how or what I need to do here? Many Thanks
