If you have an excellent link structure to your homepage (good anchor texts coming from blog links, article sites, high PR sites reciprocal links etc)

Ie there is some Excellent link juice coming to the homepage..

what typical content should the content on this homepage be(for SEO benefits)? - an article which has keywords based on the anchor texts of the incoming links?

and, if the content of this homepage is poor, then if the hompage points to 10other sub pages....which have good content, does that affect the Link juice coming to them 10 pages?

ie, does poor content on home page compared to Excellent content on the home page Affect the link juice going out to the external 10 Pages on the site?

    thanks.

    The content should be >

"The most relevant and likely answer to the search query in the mind of the searcher/surfer"!

If you are happy "hand on heart" that you would be happy your Dad your Mum your Husband your Wife your Son your Daughter or your best friend would be happy finding your result/page for the search term they have searched and have matched up what is most likely in their mind, then you are on the right track and helping us all - the search engines included!

I think you should have a balance of both. The page with the links should be anchored with any terms you want to rank for. So, for instance let's say you want to rank for "samsung propel review" which is a phone by-the-way. then you'll want to have the anchor point to that page, and have it a few times on there too.

Google also does not crawl your entire site, Matt Cutts explained that in a video I saw on YouTube. If the bot gets there, he'll only check out a few pages then leave unless you have a lot of links.

Content is affecting Google more now, since the Caffeine update. So quality content will count for something a little more now, so that's something to look out for.

    Hope that helps,
