Hi, I was wondering if you could give me some examples of some well optimized pages? I guess I could just do a search on any given search engine, and take a look at the first 5 results, but what makes those pages well optimized? I take it that if page #1 in the serps has very few backlinks (all low quality with unrelated anchor text) and a low PR, that its ranking must be partly or mainly due to the on page elements, correct? Also...what is your opinion concerning off page VS on page elements, in terms of importance? Are they equally important? Thanks.
i can tell you that link popularity (LP) by itself outweights on page seo, this means that you can have a web site do very well with search engines just by having an excellent link popularity so, my approach would be to first concentrate on on page factors and then work on LP what keywords they are using and where they are using them ... there are more than 10 locations where keywords should be placed for maximum seo benefit serge
Have a gander at this list that compar and foxy have written down, will help you identify if you are missing anything in your SEO efforts.
This wedding favor site is very well optimised hxxp://www.myweddingfavors.com/ ( Change xx to tt) Owned by Brad Callen, a well known SE expert. Site ranked no 1 for the term wedding favor in Google and Yahoo. I think he did a great job
Yes, interesting to see. And yes he did a good job. I would have put the CSS and JS in external files.
It is a nice site; I've seen my fiancee browsing it before. I took a look at the source and it is interesting that he runs a bit of referrer javascript before declaring the DOCTYPE.
iskandar > Excellent example, thanks! A few things I noticed: He uses images for his top menu links (Home, About Us, Why Favors, etc.), instead of text links. However, on the left hand category menu he uses text links, because the anchor text for these links contain important keywords. He uses the alt text "Wedding Favors" for several of the top images. Plus, he appropriately named each of his category and item pages, such as "bridal-shower-favors.html", "placecard-favors.html", etc. In the source I noticed that he uses absolute links instead of relative, which I've heard is much more search engine friendly, right? He also seems to have a "site map" at the bottom of each page. Is there anything important that I missed? This example has been most helpful.
Go to this page hxxp://www.seoelite.com/HTML_SEOLesson2-as.htm ( Change xx to tt) and scroll to the part where he talks about that table. I think that is something most people neglect to do. But again, he really emphasize on getting a great no of links (offpage optimization) compared to just on page. Thanks alang for pointing this link to me .. BTW, SEO starts with a keyword filled domain name. That is a vital start.
The table trick he mentions is old, check out Delorie. http://www.delorie.com/web/ses-hint.html I was playing with it before seoelite.com was even registered... how this guy can claim he came up with it, (maybe independently, but doubtful) I don't know. Besides, Delorie explains it much better. Yes, it works, and well. But it can be tough to get the display right over different browsers. There are other methods of acheiving the same result, including using div tags and css to place them...
My client has quite a few well optimized webpages and the forum optimization on the threads is in my opinion --excellent. For an ecommerce site this one has been doing very well after the work performed. consolesandgadgets.co.uk. and the dot com version have been worked on recently. You can go to the internet archives and get an earlier version to compare the results. Check out the forum that just went up. It is highly optimized but as of yet unused by members. how about signing up and posting while you are there? Help get this forum up and running. whatever you do don't try to outsmart the algo it will do you no good. plus, be careful which sites you link to and which ones link to you. Get a hold of a blacklisted link and it will hurt you. That is why it is very important to know who you are dealing with on the internet. See me for the seo job. I have a number of ways to help and the price quoted is a total price for links, plan & implementation (most of it).
@iskandar i think myweddingfavors.com is owned by Brad Fallon and not by Brad Callen from seoelite.com anyway is a good example of well done seo.
yea, i tend to agree.. even if you don't use PPC your page can attain traffic organically through seo. recently, i found quantitativefinancemastersDOTcom the first site has a really nice landing page with content rich articles, and jam packed with keywords. that site actually is a clickbank website which i found at clickbankDOT"2freedom"DOTcom
