Just testing user response, but here's a short list of high performing keywords with low Quality Scores: *Note the keyword match type. **A conversion is a submitted inquiry on the contact us page. "premarital counseling" QS: 2 Clicks: 14 Impressions: 488 CTR: 2.87% Position: 2.4 Conversion Rate: 7.14% premarital counseling QS: 2 Clicks: 8 Impressions: 95 Position 2.2 CTR: 8.42% Conversion Rate: 12.50% marriage +counseling QS: 3 Clicks: 6 Impressions: 400 Position: 3.2 CTR: 1.50% Conversion Rate: 16.67% marriage counseling QS: 3 CTR: 1.41% Conversion Rate: 18.18% +couples +counseling QS: 3 Clicks: 2 Impressions: 90 Position: 2.5 CTR: 2.22% Conversion Rate: 50% Also keep in mind that my geo-targeting is set to a list of select cities, so even though I'm using some broad match here, it's only being sent to a select audience. Broad match would be appropriate because I would have search terms such as: counselors for couples near springfield, NY (i.e.) I def. want to hit that query and as long as I'm marketing to that location, I see no problem with including these broad match keywords. What do YOU think?
Don't use the old style broad match. Use the new modified broad match which you know about. From what you're saying, I'd expand keywords to include the "counselors for couples near springfield" queries. Simply create groups for the major cities and towns. How many clicks to your stats up there? I assume not many but simply quoting percentages is not enough, give us impressions and/or clicks. You seem to convert very well however but what kind of conversion is it? Filling out a free report or actual clients? You also don't say your average position so these stats don't tell the whole story. But what is significant is your QS. You are doing a poor job with your ads. This means you are paying much more than you need.
I added the stats. The position of the ads I think is fair so that I don't need to add more keywords with a long list of cities attached to them. The keyword reports I get are so diverse that I can only add a few select key cities. I'll try out a tactic for cities tho so thanks for the tip. Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't the broad match modifier only provide for alternative forms and not the literal keywords you provide? So +marriage +counseling would apply to marital counselors but not marriage counseling as stated. I could be wrong.
I would use both +marriage +counseling and +marriage +counselor to cover myself in this case as I'm not sure how the system would handle them. +marriage +counselor would cover the plural for sure but maybe not counseling. As expected, you don't have that many clicks yet. But you need to work on better ads. That's the only way your QS will go up, assuming relevant keywords which you say in another thread that you don't.
Ok, littler is not a word. And the budget is sufficient. I have never reached the budget ceiling. As for the intervals, the whole point for Adwords' time interval option is to allow for...intervals. I don't see your point or how Google would consider that a weakness to quality.
I would like to mention that Google recommends against this: "If you mainly use broad match keywords in your account, switching these keywords to modified broad match is likely to have a significant negative impact on clicks and conversion volume. We therefore recommend keeping existing broad match keywords active, adding new modified broad match keywords, and adjusting bids to achieve your target ROI based on observed performance." http://adwords.google.com/support/aw/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=175280
