    Hello,

Here is an example of a situation.

Let's say I want to create a web-browser based MMO game but that content is based on popular games lets say such as; Starcraft, Warcraft, or Warhammer.

    Question:
If I use characters, names, and/or pictures/images from their games on my web-browser game will I run into any legal issues with the rightful owners of these companies/games?

Uh, yeah. Make your own images, or pay someone to do it. Or ask the copyright owners for permission. Your opening yourself up to a lawsuit and the loss of those images, possibly more, maybe even the source code for the game. Definitely the database.
