I read the newspaper today and saw an article that interested me about a recent "failure" of Google. Apparently, they just shut down their "Google Answers" section after a few years due to it just not catching on. The article went on about how Yahoo's free version of it (Google actually made you pay to have your questions answered) was by far more successful and viewed as a HUGE success over Google. But here's the part that I found interested... It talked about how Google gets virtually all of its profits from its search (including its ads), and how Yahoo is actually winning in other areas despite being a far amount being Google in terms of the number of people using its search engine. Even though Yahoo is still a huge empire, it reminded me how people can compete with giants out there as long as they find a hole to punch through in. Brian
Google is much better with the algorithms and techy side of things. Yahoo is generally better at the business side of things.
Yahoo has a more all around, integrated approach I think, while Google's products are still very independent of eachother.
Yahoo! is more of a portal, while I consider google more of a search engine (and advertisement displayer).
