I dont understand why people recommend to search for "exact search results". I rarely use "exact search" when searching. Does other people use "exact search" when searching? especially the people who are not in the internet marketing business

In exact search; result of digital point forum is total search of keyword: digital point forum.

I use list of "exact search" to check the keywords' $ potential

    just my humble opinion

It's used for checking the competitors of the exact keyword you want to target.

If you want to rank in a certain keyword phrase, you will only compare with other people who has that exact keyword.
Although broad match will return much more results but top few are ranked by exact match.

Take the previous example Digital Point Forum.
People who search Digital Point Forum will get this forum AND lots of other results like for example:
This digital watch has its needle pointing wrongly - Some other forum thread
But the top few results are often sites that the 3 words put together as what is typed.
Which are the real competitors of exact match Digital Point Forum.
If you want to compete with this keyword phrase, the amount of people you will compete with is doing a "Digital Point Forum" exact match search.

Kind of confusing to explain but hope you get the idea.

You should always use exact search when using google adword keyword tool, because it determines exact/phrase/broad the same way it does for adwords. It 's not reliant on people searching using inverted commas or brackets - it simply means that they searched for exactly that keyword/phrase with no words before or after it.

exact search is a great way to see who ranks high for the particular keyword. it will give you a great perspective on your competitors. For example, if you search SEO broad you could be directed to a vast amount of different pages. but an exact "SEO" search will yield the top websites for just "SEO", so we can read the trends if the same websites are also the top rankings for "Online Marketing" and other such related keywords. Our company, Qoptimize, uses exact searches for researching our competitors.

its just more of an accurate forecast and analysis of your subject/keywords.
