are exact match negative keywords allowed?

i want to exclude [keyword] from my campaign, but i want any other keyphrase that contains that keyword to still be triggered. is that possible?

    Put -[keyword] in.

This will only stop your ads from being triggered when they type in the keyword only - nothing else.

If you use Adwords Editor its an option from the drop down box.

Why would you need Negative Exact Keywords...?

Doesn't the [exact keyword] trigger only that [exact keyword]?

"Why would you need Negative Exact Keywords...?"

    Quick example:

Say you have Widgets (broad) and [widgets] (exact) in your account ... you find that [widgets] is simply too competitive and not converting so you turn it off.
However, you still want to find long tail keywords with Widgets in the search, so you add -[widgets]. What does this do? It prevents the widgets broad being triggered when someone types in Widgets but allows that keyword to still pick up all other broad matches, such as Blue Widgets, Green Widgets etc.

I see....this is assuming you have all your keyword types in 1 Adgroup.....

    Correct?

Exact match is triggered first regardless of which keywords are in which adgroup.

Putting mixed match types in the same Ad Group IMO is not recommended.
