Trying to pick a domain name, and I know this has been asked a lot before but I want to get some kind of consensus on what is best for pure seo purposes.Especially with the new Google EMD and PMD domain algorithm changes. So lets take for example the keywords: "chicago cleaners" My options are: 1. chicago-cleaners.com. 2. chicagocleaners.net 3. cleanerschicago.com 4. thechicagocleaners.com Can someone put these in order for what would probably do better for SEO purposes. Also as far as branding purposes, what do you think is worse-- hyphen or a .net
IMO i think an EMD will be more suited for SEO.Without hyphen and .COM would be ideal. The 2nd choice would be a .COM with hyphene, also because you want to make it a brand you deffenetly want to have the .COM.You can choose a brandable name that is not a EMD,and spend a bit more on SEO and get the same results as an EMD.I think google is over the phase where EMD's have more privilages. All that matter right now is good quality content, updated regulary and Strong backlinking. This is only my opinion so don't take it for granted. We sould wait for a more experienced SEO expert to hear hes opinion too.I`m also currios about this.Cheers!
Do a quick search of "chicago cleaners", or better yet, "best gifts for men". How many sites came up with hyphens? The main factors for deciding would be asthetics and whether or not it is memorable. I think thechicagocleaners.com is much more asthetically pleasing, which does play into a visitors trust in the site. Also, hyphenless domains are more memorable for visitors. People forget hyphens.
I agree with you, but "chicago cleaners" domains are verry limited.Plus the competition is high.I guess a website about chicago cleaners will be about info on where they are located. Its not gonna be a website where 1000's of visitors will come to spend time. They come in,get the info they need, get out.So asthetics will not count as much as if it was a verry trafficated website. It also doesn't need to be memorable because how many ppl will type-in "thechicagocleaners.com"?Its a pretty long name to type-in. On your point about the hyphene names not coming up in serps is because nobody made enough SEO on a hyphened name.If you choose "Chicago-cleaners.com" and invest enough in SEO it will pop-up in serps nomatter if its hyphened. Also the domain could be "CCCleaners.com" , with enough SEO and strong backlinking it will pop-up #1st in google. Ive watched some verry impressive case studies at BHW on EMD's and not EMD's and i was surprised of the results those guys could achive without an EMD , just with a strong SEO campaign.Just saying.
BTW..."chicago cleaners" only has 50 exact searches per month in the US and 70 in total. So you should not base your website on those keywords alone.
I would always prefer to use .com without hyphen, if I don't find exact match domain name" then I would like to add prefix, suffix etc..
It really depends on how you want you're site to look. If i was going purely for seo purposes and wanted some quick cash I would go for the exact match with the .net I would never go with a dash for a money site with real visitors as it doesn't look trustworthy.. but if you're only wanting quick results then it shouldn't really matter. Going for a long term website? Make a damn brandable name. Some looking like a dodgy cheap ass quality site.
