What's your experience with exact match domains + number.
    For example, exactkeyphrase1.com

Have you tried with one of those and did you find it harder to rank?

Hmm...I would never go with a number in domain name. There is no doubt that keyword in domain does really help but number in domain just to have an exact keyword in domain is not a good strategy. I am not saying that having number in domain are all bad, some were success with branding number with their name, but that was a brand matter and not too focusing on keyword in domain.

When ever I see such domains, I immediately think it's cheap. Make it show as full text but not with numbers.

Exact domain means "exact keyword in domain" and it seems to work for three top level domains, i.e .com, .org and .net

If you are thinking that adding a number at the end or starting to your domain name it will not be counted as an exact domain name.

Instead it will be heck for your visitors to remember you domain name. I will never choose a exact domain + number combination for my site just because i want to get the exact domain benefit which google provides.

ITS NOT GOING TO WORK BUDDY.
hope this helps. best of luck mate

why it does not work? i think it works and very good. If you search google for a keyword and the keyword is in the domain name (example new cars) and domain name is newcars24.com, so newcars will be bold. Number does not mean, that domain is not a keyword. Number is good for domain.

From SEO point of view having the exact domain name(targeted keyword) is good but it doesn't look professional when you use any number with your domain.

As long as the domain has the key word, you can rank easily

I definitively wouldn't consider such strategy. Maybe you can rank having numbers in your domain, never tried it, but as long as you're not promoting something having numbers in the NAME, (keyword), it doesn't look professional at all. On the contrary.
