Exact match is unique in contention to search engines, your website appears only if your exact keyword is searched for and nothing other than this. The traffic to your site is based on the keywords. Having the exact match of a competitive keyword gives you a big SEO advantage.
Whereas, Broad match is that Google AdWords system automatically runs your ads on relevant variations of your keywords. It helps you attract more traffic to your website.

Supposedly EMD's are losing their value in the eyes of google. I'm not sure how true that is or not, but I would assume you can't go wrong with exact match, for a targeted keyword.

Well, you should rank just because of content and your domain name being an exact match. I would also target keywords in your title. Your meta keywords and descriptions don't have much relevance, but it is good to target them in that as well.
