Evil Links Penalty???

I'm looking for other folks who might have experienced being hit with a penalty from Googlet for linking to a bad neighborhood. I'm curious to find out the amount of time it took for your site to pop back up in the serps after removing any/all/some outbound links.

One site I manage has been having trouble.

I'm still debating on whether it's due to the last update or if it's possibly an evil link backlash.

All of my sites gained positive results in the last update except this one. Since December it's been floundering....going from 75 to 200, to nonexistent. It still has all pages and decent link counts in Googlet, but you won't find it ANYWHERE in the serps (for any keyword). We're still rocking it in Yahoo and MSN though.

We did not do an extreme amount of reciprocal exchanges on this site (only about 50 link trades a month over the last six months).

Anyone have experience with "bad neighorhood" penalties? Anyone with thoughts on other possibilities?

I prefer to not post a link to the site in question.

    Gracias!

I have been working with a client who was penalised in G for linking with a cloaked site.

The cloaked site was set up for him by a black hat SEO to redirect traffic to my client's domain, i think the penalty applied because my client's site was linking to the cloaked site.

It took 6 months from when I cleaned the site to get relisted. It returned to the serps two weeks ago.
