Everyone Says Content - But what if your not a content driven site but a service. People allways say "content is king", but everyone seems to have a blog. What about if my website is a service, a few pages but not much content. What you lot think?
I'm in the same situation, my websites are focused on commerce. However, I'm oblied to produce fresh content related to my products, and trying to beat my competitors and increase my serp. If you noticed, since aug or sept many blog posts and articles (even with low PR) are beating authority websites in their keywords, and I think this is due to content.
to have large amount of content is good but if you dont its not hopeless you can focus on the other aspects of ranking well such as keyword position in all the right places on a page and link building
Fresh unique content is what it takes, even if it is a blog as long as it is unique and is updated regularly. I have a site that the No.1 landing page is the only unique article on the site. I would suggest trying to incorporate some type of content within your design.
If your site is a commerce or service driven site, then try and ponder up some ways to incorporate content related to the service or product you are selling. Most times, if you are selling something, then you are selling it *to* someone... what types of content would be relevant and of interest to people who are looking to buy your product? Brainstorm it a little, put yourself in the shoes of someone looking for more information on whatever your product is.. what type of information are they looking for before or when they're going to buy?
Great point. Most people do not put themselves in the position of the consumer....seems simple enough but few do it.
Add a blog anyways. You don't have to update daily. But it will give you more SEO real estate and it will give you boost in credibility too.
I would like to suggest that its not merely "content" that is king, but something unique or valuable on your site that makes others want to share your site with other people. Then, they will link to your site and promote your site word of mouth. The above then can be considered tools, articles, content, or niche information in your service field. If you add new content and things that people consider useful to them, then you are the King. -Alf
