ever wondered what alexa's alexa rank is?

just a thought, but i reckon well inside top 10,000

 

I would suggest around 600-1,000.

They are a highly trafficked website, and the reason they don't place their own rank is because they do not wish to reveal such information that can be reflected. If they were ranked no.1, that would be a biased rank and everyone would not use Alexa. Smart move.

I think Alexa don't rank themselves. They know webmasters hate them lot of poor tracking technology.

 

I have 6m old list of Alexa ranks:
Alexa.com is none on the list and they probably do not rank themselves but:
alexa.cn - 13540
alexa.de - 132067
and they are not owned by Alexa.

 

They don't display a ranking because it would be wildly inaccurate. People who visit the site have the toolbar installed more often than those that don't. After all Alexa ranking is only based on how many people visit with the toolbar installed.

 

Alexa doesn't matter at all. At least it doesn't matter to me.
You can improve the alexa ranking very easily and therefore it is not a relevant factor for anything ... in other words, Alexa is just wasting time.

 

If they wanted it could be 1 too lol coz practically every1 who has installed alexa toolbar has been to alexa

 

It's the closest range of ranking we've got. A lot of services will use it for tracking, because they don't have anything else to use.

 

Alexa ranking is traffic ranking but it is determined by alexa. The data is not so accurate and therefore i dont bother about alexa ranking

 

It's such a bad way of ranking websites. On very large scale it's good to use (for example, it clearly shows that Bebo is much more popular than the Edexcel website for example).

However for normal websmasters with average sites, it's just useless.

Only people with the Alexa toolbar installed contribute towards the ranking - hence the reason most webmaster related sites generally appear with a much better Alexa rank than other niches.

 

100% true .. install the Alexa toolbar and click your link for a while and you will increase the ranking immediately. But who cares about Alexa ranking at all? lol

 

Except people link it to "value". If you are thinking of advertising on a site you are far better with plain old logs.

 

I think you are right about their strategy,
They know if they do so then they won't be that much popular .
