Ever scared to launch a site?

I have some sites set up that I think are great ideas. But I keep nit picking at it and I realized I am afraid to launch them. I don't know if I am afraid of failure or if I am just a perfectionist.

In the book Rules for Revolutionaries, Guy Kawasaki (Apple's Product Evangelist), has two chapters "Don't worry, be crappy" and "Churn baby, churn". The idea is to get your product or site out there and continue to improve it. It's much better than being stuck in paralysis of analysis.

    Launch them! Ready, fire, aim!

Hi Raider! I know how you feel. I just got My First Site up a couple of months ago, don't think I haven't made a lot of changes on it since then. I understand your feeling about being a perfectionist, I think we all are to a point, but since you feel it has some GREAT Points, get it up boy, you can always optimize it later! We Gotta get our feet wet sometime and believe it or not there are a lot of Great people out here on the net that will help you if you'd like!
Looked at your Love Your Pets page, Nice. Couldn't find a CONTACT YOU Link on the page though.
    Cheers Suzanna

why are you scared? Just do what I do keep your name off everything.. I have a web hosting company. Telihost.com If you want I will be your dark EYED cover.. When People ask me. I will be like who? and they will be like you know.. And I will be like NO I don't know. I have run this one site for this guy.. hes been working on it slowly.. but hes paying me $1.00 a month to keep his name silent. I help this one guy with ADULT site.. and another which is called nutsackmedia.com I'll be loyal and keep your secret.

I don't think I've been worried about a site launch since I built my first one several years ago. Just publish and be damned, you can always go back and fix stuff later.

    Yep, do it all ready.

Hey what could posibbly go wrong. If its a flop its a flop. I started Gazotto.com and its just a simple gadget blog (on which I write with decent passion). I plan on making it a strong site.

I've gotten e-mails and comments telling me that my site is "just another pointless blog", "might as well go to engadget", and " a wet fart". (The last one is not made up. I have a guy who keeps comment spamming me saying that).

But I'm still happy. So, even if your idea isn't a huge success just have fun with it.

I was really scared when I launched my very first site back in 98, now that just seems weird to me. I still have trouble launching a new site though. Not that I'm scared, but just that I want it to be "finished" before I launch. Ha! Web sites are never finished and if you wait until you feel that it is then you may never ever launch.

    Just go for it.

Jennifer < who needs to take her own advice.

Don't launch it too late. But don't launch it too early, people get irritated when there's bugs in your script.

It's a nice-looking site on a pretty uncontroversial subject. I wonder whether those comments are coming from drunken chavs, or your competitors?

Thanks Obelia for the kind words.

I really don't know the source, though I keep track of IPs. (Doesn't help that much).

The "wet fart" man hasn't been around lately, but he comes in once ever so often to tell me he's alive.

It's actually amusing. And the design is gonna look even better once I make it over.

Ok I am getting close. Gonna launch one of my babies by weeks end. No matter what. Would anyone be willing to sort of beta test it?
