I am in the middle of a ddos attack right now, and I can tell you, it isn't fun 500,000 hits in the last hour from army.mil have you ever been ddosed/hacked before?
i have heard about it, but don't know much! what exactly is this ddos attack, and what bad can happen from it
Holy crap! I was just looking up some DDOS info here to inform uttoransen and came across this: Perpetrators of DoS attacks typically — but not exclusively — target sites or services hosted on high-profile web servers; a pair of DNS Backbone DDoS Attacks, on October 22, 2002 and February 6, 2007, targeted DNS root servers, in an apparent attempt to disable the Internet itself. WOW! Did anyone have any idea..? There's a bunch of basic types of DDOS attacks, this is according to Wiki: One common method of attack involves saturating the target (victim) machine with external communications requests, such that it cannot respond to legitimate traffic, or responds so slowly as to be rendered effectively unavailable. In general terms, DoS attacks are implemented by: * forcing the targeted computer(s) to reset, or consume its resources such that it can no longer provide its intended service; and/or, * obstructing the communication media between the intended users and the victim so that they can no longer communicate adequately. There's a lot more to it and its a very intresting read. Check it out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Denial-of-service_attack
I ended up reading for an hour or so about the DNS backbone and such, and found on another site how it was supposedly done. Very interesting read, by all counts.
there is quite a lucrative business in DOS'ing casino and gambling sites and they ask for a small amount of cash to stop. they did it to some of the major bookies just before the grand national strange getting requests from army.mil too. does that mean that the army doesnt like your website?
yeah, I sold some gov't secrets to the Germans awhile back EDIT: thanks for moving that smyrl, was in the wrong place
