I heard Carey doesn't like playing the same character twice. With the exception of Ace Ventura I can't think of any other movie where he played the same character twice.
I've seen its trailer and its kinda similar to Bruce Almighty... Morgan Freeman also took the role as the God, and the main character in this movie is Evan Baxter(played by Steve Carell). Evan was summoned by the Almighty himself (Morgan Freeman), to build a new ark, much as Noah did before.
i had never heard that, but in my opinion it makes him a smart man... no one wants to be remembered for all those horrible sequels that hollywood puts out...
In this one also stars Lauren Graham ('Lorelai' from Gilmore Girls). Steve Carrell and her are great actors. I haven't seen it yet, but I found the first one a bit boring.
I don't think its a problem with the actors because Steve Carell is a great actor and he has many fans, but I think the problem is that it isn't appealing enough, especially since this one is more targeted towards younger children too (it is rated pg, the first was pg-13)
how can something "bomb" if it is #1 1. Evan Almighty $32.1 2. 1408 20.18 3. Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer 20.2 4. Ocean's Thirteen 11.3 5. Knocked Up 10.6 6. Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End 7.2 7. Surf's Up 6.7 8. Shrek the Third 5.8 9. Nancy Drew 4.5 10. A Mighty Heart 4 Weekend of June 22-24. Estimated figures in $ mil. I think they were lucky to make that much! I mean come on. Look at all the much better movies playing right now!
Doubt it. Steve Carell is pretty funny and I like The Office... But he's no Jim Carrey or Adam Sandler. I don't think people are gonna go out and watch that just because he's on it. Also, I heard this movie is very PG. I'm glad their attempt at making a family-friendly PG-rated comedy failed. Sorry, but $175 mill and only a $32 million opening is a bust. They better hope DVD/BluRay/HD-DVD sales help make up for the loss.
