I know it's sound crazy but i just opened my laptop and got this news... "Using 'Miss' and 'Mrs' has been banned by leaders of the European Union because they are not considered politically correct. Brussels bureaucrats have decided the words are sexist and issued new guidelines in its bid to create 'gender-neutral' language. The booklet warns European politicians they must avoid referring to a woman's marital status. This also means Madame and Mademoiselle, Frau and Fraulein and Senora and Senorita are banned. " ... you can read much more here... you can't also use "stateman" "policeman" ,etc http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/wor...ss-Mrs-sportsmen-statesmen-claims-sexist.html
Yehh I read that yesterday on a conspiracy forum. No one will take any notice of that I'd imagine, I know people I know wont and neither will I. Thats nothing anyway. You not see about them wanting to implement a EU police force? http://www.express.co.uk/posts/view/45581/Brussels-plan-for-Euro-police Getting out of hand really. crovean
They also have guidelines and laws on how to cut carrots. The European Union in my humble opinion is made up of a bunch of waste of space career politician bureaucrats who needs something to do with their time. It seems they all decided to meet up in the EU, come up with ridiculous policy and then go back to their home nations and touch themselves. Good for them.
euro police it's something we need , because we don't have anything like FBI in Europe... and a thief can easy go from a country to another country. If he did small crimes nobody will care.
I am a Miss, I've never used Ms. While originally it was intended to be equivalent to a Mr, so nobody could tell your marital status, it quickly became known as the preferred title of bitter and twisted divorcees. So I've always stuck with Miss ... and will continue to do so until they provide me with a husband, whereupon I shall take his name and call myself Mrs. Beggar the lot of 'em. Wasting good money even talking about this rubbish.
I read the Daily Mail too but I would take it with a pinch of salt. They do tend towards the anti-Labour, anti-Europe slant on things (that's why I read it).
In that case we should start referring women as "MR" . I think entrance of human beings in politics should be allowed to make logical decisions.
The point is to not refer to marital status when addressing someone, so there's no replacement, you'd just address them as Ms.
Good for you! You have my total respect. Someone still cares about family. If they ban Miss and Mrs. as sexist, shouldn't they also ban Mister? Or is everyone to be called Mr.?
BRAVO!!! At least SOMEONE left in the world has some common sense yet. Wish I knew some women locally that had common sense like that.
