Euro '08 -> England vs Macedonia

We had some good World Cup footy discussions here so let's kick off the build up to Euro 2008 :D

Despite Rio being out, I think we're going to hammer our Macedonian friends 4-1. Fat-boy Roo will get on the score sheet, so will JT.

I'd personally prefer Wayne Bridge on the left if they do go 3-5-2 - his attacking skills are better than Cole's IMO.

Anyway, kick-off in 20 minutes so I guess I left this a bit late but there ya go...

    Predictions please!

PS Scotland will beat France 2-1, Wales draw 1-1 against Slovakia and Kuyt and van Persie are going to sink Bulgaria - Holland 5, Bul. 0.

    3-0 England
Rooney now the pressure is on should deliver 2
    Crouch usual 1

This a mismatch should be 6-0 but maybe they will get 6 as they have just announced they are setting up 4-4-2

    Lets see:)

England drew their match 0-0 :( Pretty disappointing in my opinion, but they were not the only team disappointing. France lost 1-0 to Scotland :p
Going to watch The Netherlands in 5 minutes :)

Spain seems in trouble. 3 point out of 3. Podolski got sent off in what seems to have been a friendly. Poor show!

Did Kuyt come off in the Holland match because they went 1-0 down or because of injury?

Domenech once said that Scotland, and not Italy, were France's greatest threat in that group. Looks like that just came true. Stunning win for the Scots thanks to Caldwell.

As for England, I feel quite mad. Carrick had a pretty hopeless game, looked like he was overawed by a starting 11 spot. Pity that Gerrard's thunder shot didn't go in. Plus his booking sees him out of the Croatia game. We missed Rio, we weren't exactly penetrating. I want Joe Cole back, Downing isn't the greatest left winger around. There is a paucity of quality left medios sadly :(

Simply put, England cannot play as a team. They have proved this over and over again. As individuals they have some of the greatest players in the world, but when it comes to playing and working together they continually fail. Also the team picking themselves and the 'manager' being left outside does not help the whole situation.

    Just a thought...

I thought Carrick was OK. And I don't think we exactly missed Rio either. Gerrard was pretty uneventful, not sticking to his wide position and not doing his defensive duty. He done up his hair  hopefully he leaves the looks on Wednesday and just sticks to the plan laid out to him.

If Downing gets his crosses right, he's a great asset, but we need someone who can head them in. I'd skip Rooney; I never understand why they play out-of-form players. Shame Andrew Johnson is injured, he would have been my front man. Bent can head them in, and get behind the last line... Why not start him with Crouchy?

Anyways, they've had their kick up their ass now so we can expect a good match on Wednesday.
