Good news, Big Brother lost its appeal in the EU, i guess they wield less influence on the European continent than in the US.

unbelievable. that fine is MAHOOSIVE! I must admit, its fair enough tho. Microsoft are using their monopoly to dominate the market in every sector of its business. perhaps this will bring them down a peg or two :p

Either that or the EU regulators have fined them that much just so that they can have the funds to set up a company that will compete with Microsoft.

$613 million is a lot of money. If I had it I would be jumping for joy and would in fact give a good percentage of it to friends, family and also donate a large amount to charity.

That is too much money for a fine imo.

Big company or not, that's a high percentage of the company's income.

The EU is being riducolous. If this was any other company than microsoft they wouldn't have done this.

    Cheap publicity stunts.

I don't want to comment on MS, but the reports here in Germany are that the Competition Commissioner plans to take on a some other big corporations now that they've set the precedent. The reports here are saying the Commission didn't have enough funding to fight more than one big case like this but now that they've got a major win under their belts... So I guess we have to wait and see who's next.
