I found with a few tweaks of the PHPLD Templates, - the admin side is MUCH better For instance, modifying all select drop-down boxes and converting them to ListBoxes. This lets you scan categories VERY fast vs. the one-at-a-time method of the Drop-Down combo box. This can be done by tweaking the admin folder template file.
Thanks a bunch. If you need any help, stop on over to the phpld forums and say hello. The community continues to grow daily and more and more people are becoming familiar with modifications, and thus can provide assistance. wahahaha  2,635,446 to be exact.
PHPLD rules. Why ? It`s so packed with features and all kind of blazin usefull stuff, that it`s just great to play with it.And make some income using it.
My current directory is powered by eSyndicat Pro, I don't know any php programming but was able to install the script and tweak the css templates without any issues. And the support forum at their main site has always been helpful. I think I will try phpLD for my next project seeing that I do encounter a lot more phpLD directories when I do directory submissions. Also influenced by nice sites like linkverve and alivedirectory.
Thats because free version of phpld seems to be enriched with more features that free version of esyndicate. Plus if esydi. just dropped their price from 49 to maybe 30$ for 1 single domain license it would pick up. Overall script looks decent, but support is not so great , i got a 4 days wait for db migration cause of holidays. Now does holidays mean no support? But anyways i have contacted some other guy meanwhile (who doesnt take holidays) and see if he can figure out conversion from phpld to esy. Otherwise script is solid, cannot say same about support though from the looks of it so far (maybe it will change in new year)
You mean this one http://www.deeplylinked.com/ I can tell its esydicate not telling how but if you want proof i know it just pm me
I know its esy. cause of this url : http://www.deeplylinked.com/top-links.html Note the .html extension and star rating thats esy. feature, unless phpld copies the feature in their next release than it might not be distinguishable
I prefer PHPLD as directory software. However, if I were an outsider and I had no idea which was better because they both offer great options in each script, I would probably choose Esyndicat simply on the presentation of their website. Just a little hint to the designers of PHPLD
I changed my vote to eSyndicat I completely changed everything, hehe. Its very easy to mod all aspects if you are familiar with smarty templates - and if you know PHP - the script can be flipped on it's head!, It's unbelievable, props to them guys. PHPLD is nice too... but it's esyndicat for me for now on.
I never had directory running on esyndicat but if I were starting one now I think it would be it(pro version of course).
