Estimated website worth via websiteoutlook.com - any truth to this?

    Hi Folks,

A friend checked out my site on www.websiteoutlook.com and immediately IM'ed me to tell me my site was worth $20k.

I went and checked it out myself. Now I know how much my site makes and I know that there's a bit of a difference from what websiteoutlook states - but nothing to huge.

Does anyone use this site as a metric when looking to sell or buy a site? How much credence is given to it? Lastly, does anyone know of a similar site that performs the same function?

Selling my site for $20,000 is attractive but there's bound to be a discrepancy between worth and what someone will actually give me for it. Right?

Like everything in life it's "worth" what someone will give you for it.

That's what I'm thinking - but I'm wondering if folks use that site as a common metric, or if it's just a fun site that exists to make revenue off of their own ads.

    Hi,
Why you don't read the content clearly?

They write "perfect place to evaluate any website"

They "evaluate", means estimate - no one can tell you for sure what is your site worth, only you can decide about it, they juts estimate it by their own tools.

Does Alexa and Compete ranks are real? fake? none, that's just estimations.

Anyhow, when peoples buy or sell they surely check those tools and that's a fact :p

Let's get this right: this is a website that takes just your domain name and comes up with a value? It doesn't need to know how much you're earning, how much you're spending in PPC, how much of time and effort your site takes to run, how many active members in your forums ... or any of the other factors that buyers take into account when valuing sites?

If you are serious about getting a good idea of how much your site sells for there is no substitute to doing a bit of research yourself rather than trusting any one single free online tool. This is a good place to start. It explains how these valuation tools value your site, how those valuations compare across various tools and why some are better than others.

www.dnsscoop.com has proven to be the closest to the real price.

As it takes into consideration things above just the domain.

    try it out.

I have never found any of these sites to be useful. They have such a wide range of possible values that it is just entertainment in my opinion!

Got a link to any investigating article that proves this?

Or is it just your wild guess?

The problem with many so called "valuations" is that they aren't. They're link baits. They provide inflated values to every site in the hope that some idiot webmasters will get excited enough to give the "tool" a linkback: "Click here to see how my two day old blog is worth $100K" ;) It's amazing how many webmasters fall for that.

Well I think yourwebsitevalue.com is the best ... but ... hey ... I am the owner of that website ... so I can say whatever I want.

There is a fact however .... it's an estimate ... it's based on real data, but the data is going through statistical formulas and it gives an estimate.

It's nice to compare with other sites however.

IMO,the valuation cannot be trusted 100%
And yes it can become one of the thing to make your sales more attractive just like low alexa ranking.

Cool! According to your website, I'm worth $12,704. I'll expect a check soon! ;)

I've actually tried a number of sites like yours - and come up with values ranging from $1700 to $34000. I'm not all that interested in selling (unless someone makes me an offer I can't refuse!) but it's nice to know stuff like this.

Those are based off of back links and pr and alexa ranking, they have nothing to do with traffic, so I dont think they are accurate. Also its dnscoop with one 's' not two
