Estibot value vs Real life value

    Before anyone says..

"its worth what someone will pay for it"

Im just curious on people's opinions when it comes to domain flipping.

If you had a domain that according to Estibot was worth $50,000 etc etc would you expect to get 50% of the valuation in real life? 40%? 30%?

it depends on tlds too. normally .coms gets some what good % of that appraisal value.

otherwise 20%+ value is ok to take :D

Value is $$$,$$$ - Just wondered what percentages was the norm as domain flipping is new to me.

    Cheers for the reply :)

With such a high value, I would think that the situation drastically changes... Anyone who has that kind of purchasing power, will probably have creative ways of getting what he wants or needs. He can either get a similar domain and use three figures to market it to become even cooler than your domain. Another option for him would be to use some of that money to somehow track where you are, somehow hack into your accounts and taking the domain... Kidding, unlikely but hey, thats a lot of money and people have been known to deviate when it comes to that.

    Cheers.

Thats true i suppose to an extent but big purchases are made on Sedo and the likes everyday, much bigger than the value of the domain im looking at selling.

Plus, being "creative" dont make much of a difference when it comes to short .com domains that have meaning, they're generally all taken so its not as easy as just thinking up another name. Appreciate the comments though.

Don't pay ANY attention to EstiBot or any other auto-appraiser's value.

It's worth what YOU think it's worth, and not a randomized bot ;) It's always wrong, regardless of how good or bad the domain/site is.

Auto-appraisers always lack one thing... Common sense.

Well, DotXxx.com had an Estibot appraisal of $2500 and ICM Registry paid $25,000 for it...................I guess it boils down to
"what someone is willing to pay for it"..................................

Use estibot only for stats (infact even those sometimes are wrong) but don't use it to appraise domains

Well i dont claim to be good at domain flipping, however its just something else to try out. Ive recently bought up some one word domains (.net .org) so was hoping to flip them on for a decent profit.
