Selling Established webmaster forum

After owning this forum for several years, it's time for me to sell it and move on to other things. Up for sale is a *real* established forum, online since 2002. It is dedicated to webmasters using Frontpage web authoring software. It has established directory listings, and gets a ton of daily traffic from natural search.

It also has an awesome moderator who is dedicated to the forum, and presumably will continue if changes aren't too radical (I've corresponded with her and she is aware and supportive of the sale).

- Over 10,000 members
- 8,600 threads
- Over 54,000 posts

New members come in on a regular basis for critiques, and to get questions answered.

I have never fully monetized the site, and haven't had time to experiment with Adsense and other programs.

It would take years, and a lot of $$$ resources to replicate what this forum represents in its current state. If you are thinking about developing a similar webmaster community, this would be a great start at a great price. The BIN price is $2,200, though I'm open to reasonable offers. I can provide more detailed traffic stats for those with a serious offer.

I will also host the site free for up to one year upon sale (with a specific bandwidth allocation), if the buyer wishes to keep it on my servers. it is the responsibility of the buyer to move it to new servers, or you can pay me a reasonable monthly fee for hosting beyond that time period.

What is the monthly traffic?

 

could i have the daily unique visits ,referral stats and how many members login with in a 24 hour time limit ?

 

Could i also ask what the valuation is based on ? There maybe a good amount of posts but when there are only 2000 ish pages indexed in google the amount of posts is pretty irrelevant, Alexa rank of over a million which for a webmaster forum is terrible so id imagine that there is less than 50 uniques per day or around that region anyway and you say there isnt any revenue. So Im finding it hard to see where the price of $2000 is coming from ? For $2000 i could get a forum established with more natural daily traffic within 2 months ( probably alot sooner but ill be fare just for comparison ) , not only that but there hasnt been any posts in the last 24 hours , understandably there will be a slight lack of activity because its a weekend but there should be 50 - 100 posts at least in the last 24 for a "semi active" forum .

Also could you tell me whether your current moderation team would be oppose to a merge with another webmaster forum ? Your currently moderator looks like she trys hard and basically keeps the forum ticking over so the new owner would obviously be looking to make sure that she would be sticking around

All I can tell you is that it would be challenging to build up a new forum with 54,000 posts in two months without having to pay for posts, and having a lot of low quality posts. These are all real unsolicited posts, and the site has been online since 2002. I'm sure she might be open to merging of forums, if she were to take on some of the existing topics.

 

BTW - this forum has a fantastic moderator, and said she would like to stick around and work with the new owner. I can't say enough great things about her.
