Established image host for sale, huge traffic

Imagefly is a revenue sharing image hosting site. We reward our members for uploading and sharing their images by paying them. We currently have over 7800 members and new members signing up everyday with no promotion done. The site is currently hosting over 370,000 images.

The site runs on a powerful custom script written in PHP and needs mySQL. The script has a backend that lets you monitor uploads via thumbnails so you can quickly and easily moderate images. It also keeps track of all pending and processed payouts. The script supports multiple servers which can be easily added.

I spend about 5 minutes a day checking over the images to make sure no adult content is uploaded and reviewing any payouts, other than that I haven't worked on the site at all in the past few months.

Domain is registered at Namecheap through 4/21/2008, free push to new owner.

Revenue Details:

Revenue is low at the moment because of the traffic mix. Most of the traffic is currently from Asia and I haven't explored enough ways to monetize that. At the end of last year and beginning of this year the site was making around $1000/mo after member payouts with less traffic. This was because the membership was mainly from US and Europe. If you post images on popular forums or sites that have US/European readers you'll be making significantly more. Sending out an email to the members list might also remind old members about the site and bring up the revenue since the site started out with mostly US members. Around the end of last year traffic was ~50% US.

I require all members to have a Paypal Premier or Business account and payout using a credit card. I rack up a decent amount of points on my card this way.

In the past I have also sold text links directly on the individual image pages which probably adds up to a few hundred extra/yr.

Traffic Details:

Traffic comes from forums and blogs where users post their images. No advertising done, I haven't really touched the site for about 8 months besides monitoring the uploads to ensure no adult content gets uploaded. In September the site had ~1,300,000 unique visitors and ~5,000,000 pageviews. Traffic stats are kept using Google Analytics. Serious bidders can have access to my GA account to verify stats if you like.

Hosting Costs
I have the site on one very high end server right now. Until recently it was hosting several of my larger sites. I've since taken them off and only Imagefly remains. Part of the reason why I'm selling the site is to clean off and get rid of the server. Hosting is paid for until 10/26, buyer has until then to move the site. With the amount of traffic the site uses I would recommend a server with a 50mbps unmetered connection and at least 100GB diskspace and 2GB RAM. The site currently takes up about 65GB of diskspace. This site has been sold a few times. I've seen it for sale in the past.

 

I can't edit my post. So I wanted to comment again. What's the deal with this site ? It's been up for sale several times in the past year. I can't pull the site up and it's down. Is it the script that's fro sale ? With customers but no domain name or what ?

 

I wish the script was for sale...
