Ok guys and girls, I looking for any input you guys have.

I have a domain that is a PR2 which has been around for quite some time. It has been a chat site with a P.O.S. free chat script since day one. Unfortunately is full of youngsters and the adsense clicks for chat are crap.

    I'm changing that.

Here is what I want to do, or at least here's my idea. Since the domain is so general (talkrooms.com) I would like to do something different with the website. I was thinking about a forum so users generate the content, but there are already so many forums and BTW, who wants to remember another password and user name.

If I did make it a forum site should I just make it a general forum with categories such as:

    • Arts
    • Entertainment
    • Music
    • etc etc

I have another idea to build static pages with subdomains(little niche pages for products) for adsense, obviously with killer content and pages I can rank for, but then what would I use the home page for? For example shopping.talkrooms.com (shopping.talkrooms.com/sony32inch.html, etc), music.talkrooms.com, etc.

I'm looking for some feedback and ideas. What would you guys do with such a general domain?

    Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that it has a blog as well. I did a test post today and it was indexed by Google just about immediately. The blog gets no traffic (for now) so I deleted the crappy posts.

Its very difficult to make a good income with a general site such as the idea you are suggesting. Try narrowing things down to a very specific niche. It will be easier to produce quality content and you can better target your advertising that way.

    Affirmative. I agree.

After reading this great post at WF

What do you think about using the subdomains (instead of separate domains) for little niches? (like the quick sample page in my sig)
