Established as .NET just got the .COM

    Hello.

I have a moderately established .net. Nothing huge but have a few incoming links. And discussions have spread through forums regarding my site.

I just got my hands on the .COM variation of the domain name. Should I change it to .COM and 301 the .NET links to the new .COM or just keep it as .NET and redirect the .COM to the homepage?

The website is a forum that gets about 25-100 uniques a day but is starting to grow nicely.

I'd like to switch it a .com but not if it will affect me negativley.

    Thanks.

It will affect you on the short period. I would redirect .com to .net since some members already know you as a .net.
Ask yourself, would you come to DP if it was dp.net? I would since this is a great place to be...

but my members will automatically be redirected to the .com.

I'd probably come, but I think as new member i'd be more likely to join a .com.

Not to mention the active ones know about the potential change.

I can't really see how it will cause any negative affects. Your redirecting all users to the .com so they will always find the site, then everyone will remember to go to the .com in the future...
