Hello, my name is Fredrik Näs, I own a domain portfolio service in sweden.

im wondering if there is any known way to get whois information regarding the ".es" domain, and also other know versions, such as: .com.es, .nom.es, .org.es, .gob.es, .edu.es.

Preferably a free API, but payed solutions are also of interest.

    Kindly,
    Fredrik Näs

not sure about the whois part, but for easy .es domain registrations, try the http://www.opensrs.com/ reseller programme.

.es domain names are $.3.99 each at the moment if you are a reseller.

For years I was struggling with nic.es, who charge a hefty €32 per year. Then I started using eurodns.com who were cheaper at €18 per year.

Now I amusing opensrs.com for .es domains and could not be happier.

In fact not sure what system you use for your domains/billing, but I can highly recommend www.whmcs.com. I basically entered my opensrs.com details in to the api inside whmcs.com and it was ready to go in terms of doing lookups/availability/live regsitrations for .es domain names.

To see example of .es availability via whmcs and opensrs.com, see: https://www.123marbella.co.uk/clients/cart.php?a=add&domain=register (you will see .es in the list)

Hi Siberforum, thank you for your effort and your tip.

Domaintools do actually get a .es respons when querying f.ex car.es, altough the output is extremely poor:

% NOTE: The registry for this domain name does not publish ownership
% records (whois records) in the standard format. This data
% represents the most likely status of the domain based on
% information provided by the Internet's domain name servers (DNS).

    domain: car.es
    status: taken
    nameserver: ns.phade.de
    nameserver: ns3.phade.de

% For more information, please visit http://www.nic.es/

i Would need to get my hands on expirtion-date to be able to use the data..

Im gona check with any larger registrars if it is possible to make a few querys thru them.

If you have any more tips, please throw´em in!

I also contacted nic.es to see if it was possible to query directly with them, altough they said that registerd registrars and them only could do that thru their api.
