Hi all, I am having the biggest problem. For starters, I installed the 32 bit version of Windows 7 on my Sony Vaio 64bit. The CD/DVD drive doesn't work and when I try to reinstall Windows 7, it comes up this error message:"Windows could not collect information for [OSImage] since the specified image file [install.wim] does not exist." I have ordered a 4GB Memory Stick, so I can try and install Windows 7 64Bit from there. But can anyone give me any suggestions. Thanks and really appreciate it.
It seems your installation CD or ISO files are corrupted. It say's that the install file is not present, which mean's it's either not there or it's corrupt.
may be its because you installed 32bit OS in a 64 bit machine? I think 64 bit win 7 is available as such, right?
First of all, thanks for all your help. This was the problem and I was aware of that, so I ended up borrowing my friends, usd cd drive and installed Windows 7 64bit successfully from there, There was no need to purchase the item, this was downloaded when Microsoft were giving the trial beta versions. So I got it free till next year. Yes there was a problem with the driver, but now everything is all fixed and done. Thanks a low guys.
May I quickly add, it doesn't matter if you're installing 32bit software/system on a 64bit machine... 64bit machine can take 32bit software, it's 32bit machine that can't take 64bit software.
You are going to need to redo the installation cd however you got it you will need to recreate the cd and then try again
