......... Erdogan's suggestion that Germany should found Turkish-medium high schools and universities came as a bit of a surprise to German Chancellor Angela Merkel, who was also present at the question-and-answer session. For immigrants to speak better German, Erdogan explained, they have to be able to speak their own mother tongue first. Turkish teachers and schools could help them along, he said. "The German government should have no problem with that," Erdogan said, adding that, "whatever needs to be done for integration, should be done." Erdogan also pleaded for existing German high schools to hire teachers from Turkey to ease the language barrier immigrants often face in their adopted country. Around 2.7 million people of Turkish descent currently live in Germany. Merkel reacted cautiously to the suggestion of sending Turkish teachers to Germany. German schoolteachers need to have "an essential openness to all students," she said, explaining that it was not necessary to have teachers from immigrant backgrounds to meet the needs of Turkish-German children..... http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=a86_1202583177 Germans need not be surprised ..... They should take a close look at Kosovo Albanians and learn something. What goes around comes around.
Isn't education in native language to all minorities accross the world like.. a big passion of EU in foreign affairs? Oh, i forgot that should only apply to "other" world, namely 3rd world. Stop the oppression, give them freedom! haha freedom card is very cool when it favors you
I agree with you Leo, double standards are good, but only when they favor the big boys. Anyway the truth is absolute and it is what it is. IMO, if I come to turkey I'll have to play by the rules of your country or leave it. Turkey for decades didn't allow people to have names other than those allowed by the Turkish government. That's a forced assimilation. Something that now Erdogan does not like if applied to Turks abroad. In all this mess that we have now the only way we can assure peace for everybody is to say no to hypocrisy. And all countries should respect international law that including US and EU. Now the latter two are trying to change borders in Kosovo. Especially the first one - this US admin wants it real bad. I believe this US administration wants to create places of tensions in EU and that will lead to other potentiol tensions around the world since there is no country without minorities. Divide and conquer. No country should support Kosovo's independence if they want the rule of law be respected. Immigrants should respect the law of the countries that opened their doors for them.
Sweet, there are things we can agree on. Though i don't know how this is related to Kosovo, there is no indepence or any sort of autonomy call here. As for Kosovo, is the alternative a united Yugoslavia again? I guess that's a whole different subject.
