So, I've heard of rep points on forums (fora?) before but most of them have either not implemented it or removed it later, but not here. Apparantly I got an infraction but I can't see where my rep points are (User CP) or really what the point of it is? So, what's the skinny? And apologies if this is something that gets asked all the time!
http://forums.digitalpoint.com/usercp.php If they don't show up there, you havn't got rep yet. If the infraction doesn't show up there, you havn't got one yet.
Rep and infractions are two different forms of feedback. Rep is feedback given by members to other members and is a self moderationg tool. You can view the last five reps you have recieved at bottom of UserCP. An infraction/waring (red card/yellow card) is a form of feedback given by mods when users do not follow the basic posting guidelines. You can view your infractions in your user profile. Members are not able to view your rep comments or infractions. Only you, mods, and admins can view your infractions.
That's really strange. Someone has given me two black reps in the past two days and for one of them, it says "twirp and *blank*" for my post, "Wow, these are great. Thanks." I mean, my post was a compliment.
Yeah, some of hte people here are straight up idiots. You just have to ignore them for the most part. Even if you end up with a red or negative reputation, you will not be banned from the forums. People leave some strange stuff in their, so if they do just ignore it, it is always the best course of action.
Yea its asked every 24 hrs lloydi - if you would have seen something like "Reputation/Reps Explained - Read before you post" as a sticky would you have posted this thread? Will someone plz make a sticky - I know they can use search feature, look into the FAQ's etc.. but a thread like this almost every 24 hrs isnt doing any good
You have received a warning at Digital Point Forums. http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?p=1684343#post1684343 Reason: ------- Thread Started In Wrong Category For the love of God ... this place does like to slap wrists doesn't it? Jeez, I ask a question as newbie here and this is what happens? Honestly, I've never known a forum that has so many conditions and likes to reprimand so much. I looked through all the options and thought 'Chat' was open and an appropriate place to ask - more so that *this* thread ( I am neither asking for feedback or making a suggestion) Sigh.
Almost certainly. FWIW, one of the other forums I post to frequently (a VW air-cooled community) used to have rep but it became such a nightmare having to tell people how it worked, people calling foul over people stealing rep points etc that they just pulled it. A good idea in theory but in practice it became an overhead that no-one liked.
The rep system is basically controlled by the fact, that to give a red, you need to lose green As for restrictions, DP is one of the more loosely moderated places around. Just try and use the search function before asking any query. It saves lot of time for everyone
I would have, but the search facility is breaking for me at work (certain scripts fail due to corporate firewall policies).
