I guess this is just another poll type thread, but I searched pretty far back (at least through 70 or so threads and titles) and couldn't find a recent post geared toward eCPM for entertainment sites specifically. I've spent a lot of time and energy (including almost daily filtering) to get one of my entertainment sites as good as I can make it so far. For the past 2 weeks it's averaged a steady 5% CTR (seriously, it's a very stable 4.9%-5.1% every day for some reason). This is with traffic increasing steadily, so I must be doing something right. BUT... My eCPM fluctuates from a low of $2.5 to as high as $4.50, averaging around $3.20. I've heard before that anything above $3.00 is pretty good for humor sites, but I'd hate to think I've improved it as much as it can go. Does anyone out there have a high, steady, eCPM for at least mid range impressions (say at least 5,000 a day) on an entertainment site? Oh, and try not to make this a bragging thread. It seems odd to me when people respond without any information or explaination, like "$487 eCPM, used to be much higher". Unless of course you've gotten 20,000 impressions a day for 3 months and this was the average eCPM, in which case I have found a new God.
entertainment generally has a low ecpm, so the only way to up it, is to use the right topics to have jokes about (finance and law come to mind).
Right now I have a $2.13 CPM. But it was over $4 just 2 days ago. I guess someone from Adsense went to my site and decided I was making too much revenue off of entertainment. Makes you wonder why they bother to approve entertainment sites at all.
on my entertianment blog i got 16 clicks and just 0.85$ ..but its been less than 24hrs since i have placed Adsense.
It is not entirely surprising that cpc on entertainment sites is extremely low given that the advertisers are usually marketing low value items. It would not make sense on their part to bid $2 for something that would not result in a high value sale. Of course, this is not true for every segmentof entertainment but this is a more general take on the entertainment niche as a whole.
Entertainment sites are easy to promote and get traffic for, so there are a lot of them, so the supply more than matches the demand, so the price is lower. It's simple supply and demand.
I know this too well... nothing like 1000 clicks and $60, makes you want to say screw it, I'll make a site about cancer. I guess the trick is to use other ways to monetize your site, ones using the abundent traffic. Adsense filtering doesn't seem to do crap for me, though it's hard to tell because I've make so many changes since I starting filtering. Does ANYONE have an entertainment site with $4.00 eCPM?
