I have ran a few blogs (short lived im better at writting the content for others then formyself oddly) and a do run a site (studentstyle.net) it gets around 150 visitors on avr' a day, been online for 2 months made $50 adsense on it and $6 from affiliate (lol) but this site was just a tester so . . . I know my keywords but there the one i really want to rank highly on: Articles For Students and Students (impossible with my competition so ill do the before metioned) ive typed it in google to see how high my competition is and its well established i guess... I've bought the domains ArticlesForStudents.co.uk and .net. The move to articlesforstudents will be a site move so ill have to 301 all my pages from studentstyle so not to lose people.... How difficult would it be to rank in the top page for that keyword do you think? Obviously backlinking can bring traffic but im talking organic: Is: Social bookmarking a site on 750 odd social bookmarking sites worth it? Should i submit every page of my site or just the key on linking ones? Directory submission: How many do you rec' a week for the site once i set it up? Will do a press release to inform about the move and revamp once done and uploaded . . . Suggestions on other SEO techniques? is ArticlesForStudents too long a URL? .net or .co.uk? my market is the UK tho . . . .
Just typing articles for students in to Google isnt a real good measure of competiton. Using allinanchor, allintitle and the term in quotes will give you a better idea. It wont be that difficult with an exact match domain. I ranked a domain in the top 10 for article and articles, huge competition but the traffic wasnt as good as expected. Do some keyword and search volume research, you will probably find the phrase you have chosen doesnt bring a lot of traffic and there are better ones to go for.
