    English Premier League 2010/11
    [IMG]

It’s kick-off time, this time too the EPL race is expected to go down to the wire.

Chelsea begin the defense of their Premier League title on Saturday at home to newly promoted West Brom.Last year champions Chelsea had signed Liverpool midfielder Yossi Benayoun and little known Kallas at Stamford Bridge.Chelsea ended Manchester United's domination last year year and denied Sir Alex Ferguson's side a record 19th English title.

For Manchester United after a dismal year of performance last season, Ferguson was expected to make at least one major signing to try and raise morale at Old Trafford and also debunk the myth that his coffers are empty. However, he has spent just 10 million pounds on Fulham's Chris Smalling and a further seven million pounds on Javier Hernandez, who are hardly yet household names and 7.4 million pounds for little-known Portuguese forward Bebe, a former Homeless World Cup player.

Over time and time SAF's tactics been questioned in the transfer window but it has one simple answer, during his time at United, Ferguson has developed and cultivated one of the most impressive youth training set-ups in world football. And because he has done it before, Ferguson is now willing to do it again. Also it is well know fact that clubs like Manchester United always imports big players to the world richest clubs, Beckham,Ronaldo to name a few.

Other half of the Manchester which tasted glory way back in 1968 has no competition in terms of shelling big bucks in the market. This led to a fair bit of criticism to the club who is escalating the players prices for no reason but just to acquire their services. They start the season away to Tottenham, who pipped them for fourth spot and a lucrative Champions League place last term, on Saturday with World Cup-winning Spain winger David Silva and Yaya Toure, brother of Kolo, among the new arrivals.

Liverpool will begin their campaign against Arsenal after a dull showoff in the last season and this would be a pivotal season for both clubs who are going into major change at their respective clubs.Liverpool dropped from runners-up to seventh amidst a background of boardroom uncertainty.New Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson has at least managed to keep the likes of Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres on board, while Joe Cole has joined from Chelsea.

As for Arsenal their long-serving manager, has repeatedly forecast a brilliant future for a largely youthful team. But at some point the future has to become the present and they are on course by keeping their captain at the club from praying eyes of Barcelona.

    Players to watch out :

    Chelsea : Drogba,Lampard,Benayoun
    Manchester United : Rooney,Nani,Vidic
    Arsenal : Fabregas,Nasri
    Tottenham Hotspur : Defoe,Bale
    Manchester City : Tevez,Balotelli
    Liverpool : Torres,Gerrard,Cole

EPL started on a brighter note and spectators seen frenzy of goals in all matches.First week itself produced 26 goals in which six scored at Stamford Bridge where Chelsea created havoc in the newly promoted WBA camp.

Game of the week title goes to Liverpool vs Arsenal game which ensures that this time theres no clear favorite in this season.Liverpool played the second half with much ease and Arsenal were left lurking for some space to mark their first goal.In the end it was Reina whose blunder came as a rescue for the Arsenal otherwise it was nice show by Liverpool.

Manchester United too began their campaign by a win over new entrant Newcastle United.Much to the relief of SAF that Berbatov scored first goal for his side and SAF want him to do that again and again. This tie also highlighted the fact that "old is gold",yet again Scholes and Giggs proved their worth and played brilliantly.

Team of the week : Chelsea
Player of the week : Drogba

    Week 2

Second week of the Premier League seen many goals scored from the teams which are title contenders and others which are new entrants to the League this year.

Last weeks shocking performance of Blackpool certainly hyped their chances against Arsenal but Wenger's young adults proved what they were up against. Notable performance of the match would be with no doubts was Walcott’s hat-trick. Its nothing but a slap on the face of Capello that now onwards he needs to use his brain. Toothless Blackpool doesn’t had any answers of Arsenal's attack and they were down to 10 man when IAN EVATT saw RED fouling on Chamakh. This match also marked the returned of their Captain Fabregas as a substitute in the 62nd minute of the game.

As far as Chelsea is concerned they are still the force to reckon with, first weeks performance repeated in the second week too where they scored again six goals in an away game against Wigan.Wigan was hoping to get some energy and pride back after they got thrashed by the newly entrant Blackpool. This week too was same like the first but they with two more goals.Drogba didn’t scored a goal but he was in the thick of the action with three assist. France discarded striker too showed his worth by scoring two goals and somewhat making fun of their management as "who needs national sides wages when am pocketing handful of bucks here".Malouda and Kalou too scored for the side and new signing Banayoun scored in the 90th minute. This year too Chelsea looking favorites to clinch the title and their performance showing the same, lets see how long they can manage to score these much of the goals.

Newcastle United justified their presence in the Premier League by scoring six goals against the Aston Villa. Kevin McDonald got taste of the defeat, in all 90 minutes they weren't looking like the same Aston Villa which is used to be and reason for that departure of manager or James Milner. I guess its nothing but good play from Newcastle who never slowed down in the whole 90 minutes.Carrol scored second hat-trick of the week and was truly man of the match for the game.

Same old problem with the Manchester United, not able to score at the crucial moments and when they needed to be.Scholes proved against that at 35 he’s still much better than against their younger counterparts and scored the first goal. Stockdale doesn’t had the answer of his rocket shot. Davies scored in the 57th minute which once again raises question mark on the United's defense with Evans but this time it was Evra who was beaten down the line and after that it was an easy finish for the Davies.Nani proved to be the guilty party after missing an penalty where he tried to imitate his fellow countrymen Ronaldo and during the act lost his composure which taken pff the pace of the ball and Stockdale saved it brilliantly. Hero of the match would be none other than Hangeland who scored for both the teams in less than six minutes.

    Week 2 Contd.

Last match of the second week was proved a dud as Liverpool fall on their face without much of resistance.Same old problem their mercurial players Gerrard and Torres were off color and seen rocketing all the shot in the stands. So where to buy form of those players?? Roy Hodgson have to find answer for these otherwise it will be same as last year and they would be considering happy to play Europa League.

Now the question is City playing good football or is it the reverse of it that Liverpool playing too badly but it wont affect the oil-rich owner of City who enjoyed his first visit to the club two years after taking over the club.Milner proved his worth what he can do in the midfield and he will do again and again if he gets the chance to play for first team.Carlos Tevez City captain enjoyed his captains armband and scored twice in the match,SAF was sitting in the ground and must be wondering why he let Tevez go away from the club.

Team of the week: Arsenal,Newcastle United
    Player of the week: Walcott,Carroll

Liverpool is very dissapointing in their 2 opening matches. Only able to get draw result against Arsenal and get thrashed by Manchester City 3 goals to 0.

    Week 3

Started with Arsenal's trip to the Ewood Park where Rovers lost only one of their last 11 Premier League matches at Ewood Park. It’s the first time that Cesc Fabregas and striker Robin van Persie both started after recovering from their injuries. Walcott continued his good form by netting first goal of the match, fine ball from Van Persie to which Walcott drilled into the far bottom corner with first time strike. Rovers equalized in the 26th minute but that was the least point to cheer about before Arshavin won it for the visiting side in the 51st minute. All in all good game where both teams made life tough for each other.

At stamford bridge it was business as usual and they played well to remain on the top position. It seems that Lampard still not able to forgot his miserable performance in the World Cup as he missed a penalty in the 11th minute and looked out of sorts. Stoke played to their potential and put up a fight against the in form Chelsea but it was Malouda who converted a first half chance with his right foot to record himself on the scoring sheet. Drogba too continued his silver touch by hammering past Sorenson, who brought down Nicolas Anelka in the box. Despite their win Ancelotti claimed his side didn’t play to their best but he was happy with their win over Stoke.

Roberto Martinez put their worst start of the season behind them and grabbed a victory over Tottenham. Martinez came under severe criticism after his side conceded 10 goals in their first two games and win over Spurs given him something to cheer about. Rodallega scored the winner in 80th minute of the match, who controlled a cross field ball into the box and fires a low shot into the corner which Cudicini should have saved. It was Cudicini's first appearance since his motorcycle accident.

Manchester United's win over West Ham United certainly pleased SAF, Rooney and Nani played well over 90 minutes but most importantly scored goals. Rooney ended his five month long goal drought when he drove home the penalty that put United on their way to a 3-0 win over West Ham. Second half saw two goals, one each for Nani and Berbatov. Both players played well and deserved those goal for their performance. Berbatov too seems to enjoying this year who took his tally to three in four games and goals against was a treat to watch. Manchester United needs more goals from their strikers to keep themselves in the race.

At last Torres on the scoring sheet but still he’s not his usual best but he fired to defeat 10-man West Brom. He had not scored for quite some time but even half fit Torres provides a threat to the opposition. Hodgson still has long way to go as only high point of the game was goal from Torres and loads to think about midfielders and the defense of the team who looks shaky.

Wayward Manchester City lost their first match when bent scored in the injury time and that certainly raise City's striking prowess. In first held City played well and missed fair bit of chances, Tevez fired high over an open goal and the visitors made to pay as the points slipped away.

Young scored and backed his manger to become successor of Martin O’Neill. Villa conceded nine goals in their last two encounters which included mauling by magpies. This time they managed to hold on for a clean sheet despite being on the defense for most of the time.Arteta played well and Reo-Coker too made his presence felt in the midfield along with Young.
Team of the Week: Manchester United.
    Player of the Week: Nani.
